Welcome to the official website of Lisvane Community.

Lisvane is a village to the north of Cardiff, which although having the status of a dormitory suburb, still retains the feel of a rural village being largely surrounded by countryside. There is a well defined village centre with an ancient church, a pub and a village shop. The community has a strong identity which manifests itself in the many groups and activities which contribute to village life. The website is a vehicle to provide information about what is happening within the Community Council and the wider Lisvane Community. We hope it will be a valuable resource to all residents of the village.

Please note that the PACT meeting for 17th April has been cancelled due to the local elections.

VILLAGE FACILITIES

Lisvane currently has small and large rooms for hire in the Old School complex. They have access to kitchens and toilet facilities. Contact Gillian Lawson on 2075 3868 for further details.

The Cabin Library has a commercial quality photocopier for use by Lisvane residents and groups. The copier can produce A3 and A4 copies in colour and black & white at rates which are believed to be the most competitive in the area. See the Library side panel for more details.

LISVANE PLAYERS

The Lisvane Players is one of the oldest drama groups in Cardiff and we are celebrating our Diamond Jubilee this year with a production we are working on with the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Open Stages project as part of the “World of Shakespeare” Festival.

The production called “All the World’s a Stage” illustrates each decade of the past century with an extract from Shakespeare. From the 1900s (think the “Upstairs Downstairs” version of “Comedy of Errors”) to a twist on the modern day through “The Tempest”. Some scenes are emotional, like World War II depicted through “Henry V” with the famous speeches “Once more unto the breach dear friend” and “Upon St Crispin’s Day”, others we treat with humour, for instance the 1960s viewed through a drug induced “Midsummer Night’s Dream”.

This performance is designed to make you laugh, cry and think. We have really enjoyed putting it together and hope that Lisvane residents will come along and relish this very different show. The production is on April 27, 28 and May 4, 5 at 7.30pm in Lisvane Memorial Hall (doors open at 7pm). Tickets are £10 and can be bought by telephoning Angela on 029 2075 6660.
