COMPUTER CLASSES

Various Computer Learning Classes are available for local people in the Lisvane Cabin Library.

We usually only have four people in a class so the content and number of sessions can be tailored to suit the attendees.

Beginners is a 10-week set of 1-hour sessions for people with very little knowledge of computers – typically, someone who has just acquired their first computer. The programme covers:

  • the different components of the computer, and some of the jargon;
  • basic Windows facilities, opening and closing programs;
  • simple Word Processing;
  • saving and retrieving documents;
  • Internet and e-mail.

We recommend that people do have a computer on which to practice. The charge is £10 for the 10 weeks.

Next Steps is a 5-week set of 1-hour sessions for people wanting to brush up their skills. Typically, they may have attended the Beginners course, but want some additional practice, or perhaps have used computers in the past but want a refresher. There is no set programme, we try to meet individual needs. The charge is £5 for the 5 weeks.

Internet and e-Mail is a 5-week set of 1-hour sessions concentrating on how to use the Internet and how to send and receive e-mails. The charge is £5 for the 5 weeks.

Generally, the Beginners, Next Steps and Internet and e-Mail sessions are available on Tuesday or Thursday mornings and are run when there are enough people to make up a class. If there is sufficient demand, it may be possible to arrange evening classes.

The Drop-in Session is usually the third Wednesday of the month (see Lisvane Link for details), and is intended for people who have a specific problem they would like help with or would just like to chat about computer related topics. If you are interested, just turn up.
