Community Council
Lisvane Community Council (LCC)
The LCC is a grass roots minor local authority which aims to improve the quality of life of residents and also protect and develop the infrastructure of Lisvane. The LCC takes a special interest in the level of services provided by the County Council, Health Authority Trusts, the Environment Agency and other public bodies. Planning applications affecting Lisvane receive special attention. The LCC works closely with the Lisvane County Councillor and also, when appropriate, our MP and our Welsh Assembly Members.
The Community Council now owns the Old School community buildings complex (this does not include the Memorial Hall which is a separate set of buildings). It is managed on a day-to-day basis by a LCA Joint Committee comprising representatives of the LCA and LCC. A wide range of activities take place in the Old School and residents are sure of a warm welcome if they join in.
In addition to discussions with Councillor Walker, residents can discuss any issues with the Clerk to the Community Council and/or a Community Councillor. Meetings are usually held on the second Monday of each month in the Cabin at the Old School and residents are welcome to attend. Details can be found in the Lisvane Link.

Council Meetings:- Back to top
Lisvane Community Council meetings are normally held at 19:30pm on the second Monday of each month in the Cabin Library Committee Room on the Old School site. All Lisvane residents are welcome to attend. The first item on the agenda is reserved for Public Representation where individual residents or groups may address the Council. Prior notice is not required. However, if a response to specific questions or issues is required, then it is advisable that the Clerk to the Council is contacted in advance so that any necessary documents and research may be prepared and brought to the meeting.
One of the regular topics discussed at the meetings is Lisvane Planning Applications. Whilst the Community Council has no powers of veto or approval, it can submit letters of support or objection on any planning application submitted to Cardiff County Council and passed on to us for comment. The Community Council aims to act impartially and views any such proposals in the light of our policy of retaining the existing atmosphere and amenity of the village, whilst accepting the aspirations of residents to improve their properties. Copies of planning applications are usually sent to neighbouring properties and/or others affected by the proposal and residents can respond to Cardiff County Council Strategic Planning & Environment directly. However, residents who are affected by any planning proposal are welcome to make their views known to the Community Council, either individually or as a group. Although prior notice to the Council is not required, it would assist us if a group representation was notified to us in advance so that adequate time for it may be scheduled. It is important to bear in mind the timescales within which planning applications are considered and to respond within the published deadline so that any views may be considered by the Cardiff Planning Committee before a judgement is made.
If you need to contact the Community Council please telephone Gillian Lawson, Clerk to the Council, on Cardiff 02920 753868 or write to her at 45 Ridgeway, Lisvane, Cardiff, CF14 0RS.
