Bridge Club
The Club meets at the Old School in Lisvane at 7.30 pm every Monday. We hold duplicate events each week and the aim is for good competition. This is, however your friendly local Club. Each year we hold a pairs competition and a Bridge Drive as part of the Lisvane Festival. Silent bidding was introduced some time ago and we are delighted with the improvement in concentration.
Table money is a mere £1 per night and the annual subscription is £5.00.
New members are always welcome. Whilst we are unable to accept learners, players with limited experience of Bridge will be able to develop their skills. More experienced players will be able to take up the full challenge.
The Club’s annual Bridge Drive is part of the Lisvane Festival and was held this year on Monday 16th June 2009. This is a very enjoyable evening which raises money for the Festival and for local worthy causes.
The annual Pairs Competition was held over two sessions in the Spring term of 2009. The winners were Chris Moseley & Patrick Cartlidge. Twice yearly the Wendy Laing memorial trophy is awarded to the most improved partnership based on duplicate results of the previous six months. The winners were Glenys Roderick & Wendy Jones (December 2008) and Liz May & John Basford (June 2009). As an innovation, winners now specify the Charity to which one evening’s table money can be donated.
